The performance that truly matters is determined by the diaper's internal "core" technology. Understanding the core's structure and its key indicators is the first step in evaluating the quality of any diaper.

I. Core Structure: The "Golden Ratio" of SAP and Fluff Pulp

Traditional diaper cores are mainly a blend of fluff pulp and SAP (Super Absorbent Polymer). Fluff pulp is responsible for rapidly channeling and dispersing liquid while providing a fluffy skeleton; SAP acts as the "absorbent sponge," swelling into gel particles upon contact with urine to lock the liquid firmly inside. Early-generation cores relied heavily on fluff pulp, using thickness to absorb urine — but they were prone to clumping and breakage. Today's "composite core" technology adopts a layered structure — with nonwoven fabric on the top and bottom layers, and a high proportion of SAP (up to 70% or more in some products) uniformly mixed with a small amount of fluff pulp in between. Alternatively, some designs use "core paper" to fix SAP within a fiber grid. This structure makes the core thinner, less prone to breakage, and able to remain flat even after absorbing liquid.

 For consumers, absorption speed and rewet value are not just numbers printed on a package — they are the invisible guardians of a baby's peaceful sleep and healthy skin. II. How the Two Key Indicators Affect Baby's Skin Health

Absorption speed (national standard: ≤60 seconds) refers to the time required for a diaper to absorb a fixed volume of liquid. The faster the absorption, the shorter the window of time that urine remains in contact with the baby's skin. Infant skin has a thin stratum corneum and weak barrier function; prolonged exposure to urea, salts, and ammonia (produced by urea decomposition via urease) in urine disrupts the skin's weak acidic environment, triggering irritant contact dermatitis — commonly known as diaper rash. Rapid absorption significantly reduces this risk.

Rewet value (national standard: ≤10g) refers to the amount of liquid that returns to the surface layer under a specified pressure after the diaper has absorbed a certain volume of liquid. The lower the rewet value, the stronger the SAP's liquid-locking ability, and the less liquid is "squeezed back" to the surface under pressure — resulting in a drier top layer. A high rewet value means that with every movement and compression, dampness is re-applied to the baby's skin, increasing friction-related damage and creating a breeding ground for bacteria and Candida fungi. In short, absorption speed addresses "liquid contact time," while rewet value addresses "long-term dryness" — together, they form the baseline defense for diaper rash prevention.
