This "dashed line" is formed during core production using a roller with raised patterns. The grooves correspond to the absorbent area of the core, with a depth of about 1-2 mm. During pressing, the wood pulp fibers and SAP are compacted into a lower density channel. When liquid hits the diaper, the channel helps guide it more quickly across the longitudinal area of the core.

Without an acquisition channel, liquid concentrates in one central area. The SAP swells locally, absorption slows down, and liquid lingers on the surface, making side leaks more likely. If a baby sleeps on their stomach, urine tends to concentrate at the front – the channel helps guide it backward.
